Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation (AECC) is an organization with a rich history and a bright future. As a leader in the energy industry, we look to our employees to help us grow, change, and provide power to over 600,000 members of our 17 electric distribution cooperatives.

An Engineering intern assists in various areas of Power Production and Delivery in AECC's Engineering department located in Little Rock, AR. We're looking for someone who can maintain a high degree of situational awareness to meet continually changing conditions with a fresh and adaptable approach. In this position, you will be given the opportunity to work alongside peers who are versatile, enthusiastic, and strive to push forward with AECC's mission.

Responsibilities:



  • Assist with various projects related to Power Production, Power Delivery, Electrical substations, and/or associated monitoring control systems.
  • Utilize computer-based engineering software programs to create, design, analyze, and model related data to support the needs of our members.
  • Support engineers with procurement and contracting related to the purchase of equipment, materials, or construction labor.
  • Accompany AECC personnel on field visits to various locations throughout the state of Arkansas to collect data.
  • Organize department drawings and documents to conform to division records management standards.
  • Assist with database development and process mapping.
  • Aid AECC staff, including engineers, analysts, and technicians in the accomplishment of daily objectives.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Pursuing a Electrical Engineering degree from an engineering program that is accredited by The Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc. (EAC of ABET), Land Surveying or a related discipline
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Technologically adept and advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Exceptional analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Extremely detailed and accuracy oriented
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to work well in somewhat challenging weather conditions to support plant testing activities


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience using CAD software
  • Experience with ESRI GIS software
  • Prior electric utility experience
