Position Summary

Deliver immigration services for a specific population within the Office of Global Services (i.e., foreign national students in the US and their dependents) to permit lawful entry into the country in which the individual will be studying or working. Advise on opportunities, rights and responsibilities under the law and refer to other University departments, attorneys, or governmental agencies as necessary. Counsel international students on all personal, health, social, cultural, financial, and immigration matters related to their US stay within NYU. Act as Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) in issuing required US government documents for international students to obtain student or exchange visitor status, extend stay, apply for employment authorization, travel abroad. Provide key management, leadership and supervision in the implementation of office Business Practices, Services and Education/Training for all assigned Administrative Aides in the Office of Global Services (OGS), as well as up to 30 student employees. Manage operations of these AAs and student employees to achieve optimum utilization of employee productivity; select, train, and instruct. Maintain complete knowledge of relevant office procedures and collaborate with Director of Operations to ensure up-to-date written procedures.



Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in cross-cultural communication, counseling, area or cultural studies, foreign language, TESOL.

Required Experience:
5+ years of relevant immigration regulations advisement and compliance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience supervising teaching/training/presenting.

Preferred Experience:
7+ years administering immigration and exchange visitor benefits (DSO/ARO) in a higher education setting. Supervising student employees.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of immigration, SEVIS, and exchange visitor requirements. Ability to communicate effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds; excellent organizational, interpersonal and written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Fluency in or familiarity with at least one language in addition to English; Completion of NAFSA F-1 and J-1 Professional Development Programs.



Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $90,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
