Job Summary |
This position is located in Huntsville, Alabama.
The Auburn University Applied Research Institute and the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering are seeking candidates for an
Academic Program Administrator. This position will be responsible for collaborating with Directors and staff to support academic programs within the institute through high-level administrative program support responsibilities.

Essential Functions |
- Interacts with staff, faculty members, students, alumni, donors, and customers from industry and government.
- Assists with coordination of activities involving faculty and staff on the AU Huntsville campus. Assist with events for Auburn and for external organizations.
- Assists the supporting staff with preparation of financial and operational reports.
- Manages multiple projects in an efficient and effective manner; ensuring all work is completed within established timelines.
- Inputs and tracks data required for reports.
- Prepares, reviews, and edits communications prepared for various media outlets.
- Coordinates the scheduling of facility use with parties internal and external of Auburn

Education and Experience:
Level I: Bachelor's degree in discipline appropriate to position with no experience.
Level II: Bachelor's degree in discipline appropriate to position plus 2 years of experience in project or program administration.
Level III: Bachelor's Degree in discipline appropriate to position plus 4 years of experience in project or program administration.
Substitutions allowed for Education: When a candidate has the required experience, but lacks the required education, they may normally apply additional relevant experience toward the education requirement, at a rate of two (2) years relevant experience per year of required education. |
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities |
Developed skills with organizing, scheduling, managing, prioritizing, and manage details of different processes efficiently
The ability to represent the Institute and its programs in a professional, concise and compelling manner.
Able to identify and maintain confidential information, communications, and relationships.
The ability to multi-task, to be attentive to details, to meet deadlines, and to effectively engage with multiple personalities, occupational levels, and diverse populations are required.
The desire to work independently as well as in a collaborative team-based environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Self-motivated, can work without direct supervision. |
Minimum Technology Skills |
Computer proficiency, specifically with the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) |
Minimum License and Certifications |

Desired Qualifications |
Experience in a higher education environment
Experience with Banner and/or Kronos
Experience in working with multiple departments and programs in a large campus community;
Experience in graphic communications and social media platforms. |
