Operations Excellence Intern
6 Month Internship 20 hours/week
Interns are not eligible to work remote and must live within a commutable distance to our corporate building in Vacaville, CA.
Summary:
We are seeking a creative, analytical, passionate, and motivated intern to join our team for a six month internship from October 2024 - April 2025. This unique internship combines roles within the Operations Team: Transaction Offload Strategy and Process and Technology Optimization. You will gain hands-on experience with identifying current state processes, opportunities for improvement, and developing training materials to support these changes as well as analyzing relevant data points, identifying key reports, documenting process improvements, and exploring technological solutions for streamlining operations.
Responsibilities:
Project 1 Overview: Transaction Offload Strategy (First 3 months)
  • Current State Analysis:
    • Evaluate current state of member channel utilization.
    • Gather and understand industry channel utilization standards.
  • Opportunity Identification:
    • Assess opportunities to offload branch transactions to ATMs, mobile apps, internet platforms, and call centers.
    • Analyze data points related to member behavior to understand trends and drive offloading strategies.
  • Data Analysis:
    • Identify and analyze relevant data points that reflect member transaction behaviors.
    • Use data-driven insights to propose strategies for increasing transactions outside of the branches.
  • Training Material Development:
    • Assist in creating comprehensive training programs and materials for both members and staff.
    • Develop content that supports the transition to new transaction methods, ensuring clarity and effectiveness.
Project 2 Overview: Process and Technology Optimization (Last 3 months)
  • Current State Analysis:
    • Evaluate the following:
      • Branch Hardware Devices, Upgrades, and Utilization
      • ATM and Branch Cash delivery schedule optimization that will result in lowering cash outs and residuals while decreasing cost.
      • Complete documenting Checks, Wires, ACH, and Fraud processes and forming initial tool recommendations to improve the area.
    • Identify gaps and areas for improvement in current methods and technologies that can automate and/or optimize the process.
  • Opportunity Identification:
    • Assess opportunities to improve processes and technology tools
    • Analyze data points to understand trends and drive opportunities.
  • Data Analysis:
    • Identify and analyze relevant data points for tracking operation efficiencies and ongoing monthly dashboards.
    • Use data-driven insights to drive strategy.
Reporting and Requirements:
  • Reports directly to the AVP, ATM Channel and Cash Management
  • Must be a Junior, Senior, New Graduate, or Post Graduate student in Business Administration, Marketing, Operations Management, Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Interest in financial services and process improvement.
  • Previous experience in retail banking or financial services is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Typically requires no previous professional experience.
Compensation:
Six Month Internship: $25.00 per hour - 20 hrs/week (M-F flexible schedule)
