Responsibilities

Arcfield is seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Manager.

The Indirect Tax Manager is a critical member of the corporate tax team and major contributor to the company's success. As the Indirect Tax Manager, you will be responsible for all indirect tax compliance and audits including sales and use, gross receipts and property tax, analysis and mitigation as well as systems improvements and integration. This position works closely with finance and other cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate is a team player who will work with accounting, procurement, program management, and other teams within the organization to identify opportunities for improvement and areas of potential risk. They will perform tax research and monitor current and impending changes to tax regulations to make the appropriate updates to financial systems and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and file sales and use, gross receipts, and property tax returns on a timely and accurate basis; gather and review transaction data to support tax returns
  • Develop, improve, and streamline processes and procedures for sales and use tax compliance
  • Monitor the sales tax system and perform system testing to ensure correct rates and tax rules are applied
  • Respond to tax notices & inquiries from tax authorities and resolve outstanding issues
  • Analyze GL, reconciliations, and tax reports to ensure accurate reporting of tax; reconcile data between systems to ensure integrity and accuracy
  • Review company purchasing activity for proper sales and use tax treatment
  • Process and document customer tax exemption requests
  • Maintain overall tax filing and reporting calendar and coordinate timing of inputs with other departments
  • Perform tax accounting including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Identify tax savings and prepare refund claims
  • Interact and collaborate effectively with other members of the Tax Department, operating divisions, corporate accounting, etc.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of federal and state income and franchise taxes
  • Special projects as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive corporate sales and use, gross receipts, and property tax experience
  • Strong financial accounting, analytical, and tax research skills
  • Strong accounting ERP systems experience - Deltek CostPoint experience a plus
  • Experience in government contracting environment a plus
  • Strong overall computer skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and large amounts of data in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • We are looking for a candidate with 5+ years of non-income tax experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 10-12 years of professional experience, MS with 8-10 years of professional experience, or PhD with 5-7 years of professional experience
  • Master's degree in Tax or an accounting discipline is a plus
  • Preferred candidates have a CPA license
