Grinder Operator, LETNA

The Levy Group of Companies is seeking is seeking a Grinder Operator for our LETNA division in Calvert, Alabama. The Grinder Operator is responsible for removing surface scale and defects off of large steel slabs and billets from within a semi-automated grinding machine cab.

Pay:$25-$30

Shift/Schedule: Rotating

Responsibilities

The Grinder Operator will:

1. Perform an inspection of the grinding machine at the start of each shift. Document and report any deficiencies to the Crew Chief.
2. Grind all slabs and materials to customer specifications.
3. Change grinding wheels, as needed, in order to maintain production levels.
4. Empty dust cans as needed or when instructed by the Crew Chief or a member of management.
5. Assist in performing maintenance where needed.
6. Maintain housekeeping in and around the grinding machine.
7. Setting grinding speeds and patterns with joysticks and control buttons
8. Monitoring grinding progress and making adjustments as necessary
9. Grinding wheel set up while using mobile equipment
10. Other duties as directed by supervisor

Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience Operating Equipment in industrial setting
• Working knowledge of basic computers
• Mechanically inclined

No prior experience is necessary as training will be provided, although previous Steel Mill and/or Grinder Operator experience is a plus.

Applicants must be able to pass a drug test and some lifting is required.
