Children's Research Institute The Children's Medical Center Research Institute at UT Southwestern (CRI) is a nonprofit research institute built on the clinical expertise of Children's Health System of Texas and the scientific excellence of UT Southwestern Medical Center. Under the leadership of Sean J. Morrison, Ph.D., CRI has created a world-class research and training environment that is collaborative and inclusive. Our research is focused at the intersection of stem cells, cancer, and metabolism because we believe these areas hold uncommon opportunity for discoveries that are changing the way we think about important scientific questions and yielding new strategies for treating disease. Job Summary The Dr. Greta Hoxhaj laboratory is seeking a highly motivated individual with significant experience in molecular and cellular biology and mouse models to join our research team. Our research aims to explore the molecular processes governing cellular metabolism in cancer and metabolic diseases. The successful candidate will significantly contribute to studies on metabolic alterations in disease and how metabolic targeting could enhance treatment or prevention strategies. Current studies employ molecular biology (PCRs, cloning), cell biology/biochemistry (Cell culture, protein work), animal models (mouse models; tumor xenografts, genotyping) combined with unbiased metabolomics, proteomic, or bioinformatics experiments. For more information about Dr. Gerta Hoxhaj Lab, please visit: https://cri.utsw.edu/faculty/gerta-hoxhaj/ The lab manager is expected to be an integral part of the Hoxhaj lab, actively participating in regular laboratory meetings, discussions, and publications. It is expected that s/he will contribute to the progression of research projects central to the laboratory while at the same time advancing his or her research skills and development as a scientist. In addition to contributing to research endeavors, the appointee will also be responsible for managing the daily operations of the lab. Management duties will include ordering and monitoring lab supplies, maintaining laboratory equipment, managing laboratory collections (e.g., mouse models, cell lines, antibodies, plasmids) and databases, updating animal protocols and radioactivity inventory, overseeing compliance issues, and onboarding/training of new personnel in standard laboratory practices and safety procedures. Experience with mouse models is highly preferred/required. Preferred Qualifications
