Position Purpose
Create and maintain documentation for systems, programming, operations, testing, project management, RFPs, and/or RFIs. Translate technical and/or complicated information into clear, concise documents appropriate for various target audiences. Description

What You'll Do:

  • Reviews, critiques, and edits documentation including design documents, RFP/RFI responses, programmer notes, and/or system overviews. Ensures final product is professional in appearance and meets all internal and external requirements.

  • Maintains a current internal documentation library or repository. Builds processes for ensuring published documentation is kept current.

  • Maintains 'best practices' documentation for internal and external use. Maintains presentations of corporate's information commonly requested in RFPs and RFIs.

  • Interviews subject matter experts and technical staff to collect information, prepare written text, and coordinate layout and material organization.

Work Environment:

  • Typical office environment.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's in a job-related field OR

  • 4 years job related work experience OR

  • Associate's and 2 years job related work experience

Required Work Experience:

  • 1-year technical writing experience; includes technical document development design experience.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Broad knowledge of documentation security processes and of version control management processes.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills.

  • Ability to work effectively on several projects simultaneously, independently and with groups.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including: management, highly-skilled technical staff, and non-technical personnel.

Required Software and Other Tools:

  • PC, printer, copier, phone, shredder, calculator, and fax. Strong knowledge of Microsoft office products, adobe products, and Visio.

We Prefer You to Have:

  • 1 year-technical writing experience in an I/T environment.

  • Technical understanding of the in-place systems to facilitate development of initial and on-going user and technical manuals. Broad understanding of corporate products and processes.
