Under the general supervision of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist and Laboratory Supervisor, this position works with other members of the lab team to process patients, collect blood, urine and other specimens, and process specimens for in-house testing and send-outs to a Reference Laboratory. This position performs phlebotomy and specimen processing duties, and efficient venous and/or skin punctures on students by following phlebotomy policies and procedures established by the UCR Student Health Services Clinical Laboratory. Performs test requisition verification and patient identification either electronically or on paper, and performs computer entry of lab orders both in-house and send outs. This position necessitates the knowledge of the proper specimen handling and collection techniques and the correct Order of Draw. Assists the CLS in the setup of CLIA-waved test. This position has direct involvement in quality assurance studies, greater quality compliance record keeping, and maintaining supplies. This position may include providing clinical resource leadership/training in phlebotomy and/or specimen processing.

The full salary range for the Clinical Laboratory Phlebotomist is $47,042.64 - $58,484.88 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Additionally, this position's classification is covered under the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Patient Care Technical (EX) bargaining unit.
