MRI Technologist - 2nd Shift

The MR Imaging Technologist performs MRI procedures in the Radiology Department. The MR Imaging Technologist provides high-quality, efficient, and age-appropriate customer service and patient care.

Schedule: (Full time, Benefits Eligible)

- 2:45p-11:15pm M-F

- Weekend, call and holiday responsibilities

- First shift training component

Responsibilities

    Schedules, prepares, and performs MRI procedures for patient care and for research. Performs venipuncture and injects contrast for imaging under the direction and supervision of a licensed practitioner. Prepares all related documentation for procedures.
  • Modifies orders to reflect appropriate procedure and ensures all orders are completed following exam.
  • Operates MRI imaging equipment and utilizes electronic information devices. Programs equipment, determines correct anatomic area, and adjusts equipment factors for accurate imaging.
  • Upholds and enforces all MRI safety practices. Reviews screening form prior to each patient's procedure and maintains security of MRI suite and magnet room. Secures safety chain, locks entry doors, and monitors access points.
  • Collaborates with Radiologist to provide and maintain accurate PACS and research information.
  • Maintains stocking of accessory supplies, patient care items and cleanliness of the MRI imaging areas. Initiates needed service requests.
  • Mentors and monitors new employees and rotating students. Maintains knowledge through seminars, educational programs, and self-study. Engages in collecting and monitoring Quality Improvement projects.


Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Education Requirement:

  • Graduate of an accredited educational program for Radiologic Technology, required.
  • Active Status in American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, required.

Certifications:

  • Advanced certification in MRI Imaging within 1 year of employment, required.
  • Valid CPR certification, required.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication. Excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of current applications in electronic imaging and the Radiologic and MR Technology field.
  • Knowledge of PACS workstation, RIS, Epic, and magnet technology within MRI Department

Experience:

  • 2 years clinical experience in the Radiological Sciences, preferred.
  • 1 year experience in MR procedure, preferred.
  • Pediatric experience, preferred.
