The Department Head of Network Reliability Research at Nokia is a pivotal leadership role within our organization. In this position, you will have the unique opportunity to work closely with Bell Labs researchers and collaborate with other business divisions to drive cutting-edge research in Network Systems and Security. As the Technical Department Head, you will be responsible for leading a group of expert researchers, offering technical guidance, and fostering their career development. You will have the chance to provide technical leadership while also cultivating a work environment that encourages personal growth and accountability. This role is an integral part of our team as we continue to push the boundaries of technology and create a unified networking experience (UNEXT) for all.   • As part of the leadership of network systems and security lab, drive the vision of unified networking experience.
  • Showing technology leadership and staying current with the state-of-the-art technology
  • Active contribution to the construction of project proposals
  • Reporting and communication (to peers, upper and lower levels)
  • Find the relevant impact of the research results on Nokia's portfolio and support the technology transfer to business groups
  • Resource planning and steering individual activities toward the lab vision


Technical Qualifications



  • Track record of achievements in network systems, security technologies, reliable and deterministic behavior of the network
  • Understanding of application space and its performance dependency on the network
  • Minimum experience of 5 years in managing research teams or other technical teams
  • PhD in distributed computing, telecommunication, or other relevant networking fields


Leadership/Management Qualifications



  • Demonstrable leadership experience with strong interpersonal & coaching skills.
  • Conflict resolution, accountability management, employee guidance & training.
  • Strong problem-solving (technical & otherwise), excellent time management, involved team player, self-motivated, creative thinking and strong English verbal communication and technical writing skills.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills to both researchers as well as Nokia executive & senior leadership.
  • The ability to establish a strong relationship with Nokia leadership across the entire organization & varying disciplines.
