Operations Safety Technician

As the Operations Safety Technician, you will play a key role in promoting and ensuring the safety and compliance of the workplace. You will be responsible for conducting new hire and EHS training, organizing safety committees, and ensuring the proper maintenance of emergency equipment. Additionally, you will lead audits, assessments, and assist in documenting and auditing processes to ensure a safe working environment. You will also be involved in supporting PSSRs, incident reporting, and engaging with various layers of the plant organization. Actively look for risk reduction opportunities and prioritize safety in all tasks. Maintain a shop floor presence and engage with employees at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct new hire training and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) training.
• Perform audits and assessments for Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and other safety requirements.
• Organize and lead safety committee meetings.
• Support the approval of work permits for employees and contractors.
• Manage the maintenance of emergency and fire protection equipment (hoses, fire extinguishers, spill kits, etc.).
• Administer the site safety program to exceed goals and address near misses and hazard reports.
• Assist with 5S documentation and audits.
• Conduct emergency drills and update site communication boards on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Have knowledge of production processes.
• Have basic knowledge of Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Systems (EHS MS) and related requirements.
• Support Process Safety Reviews (PSSRs) and Management of Change (MOC) processes.
• Manage incident reporting by entering data, liaising with corporate EHS, and leading investigations and root cause analysis.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Operations or EHS experience preferred.
