This opportunity is in the Business Development Department.

Role Description:

In the role of Business Development Manager for the Northeast territory, you will be part of our Business Development team whose primary role is cultivate relationships with production sources in order to drive growth. To do so, you will collaborate with underwriting partners and other key stakeholders within the company to deliver Safety National's value and capabilities. Your contributions of sourcing and servicing key accounts to our book of business will make a direct and significant impact at Safety National's bottom line goals.

Your primary responsibilities as a Business Development Manager are to source and pursue new business within the Northeast territory (New England states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, as well as, western and upstate New York) and oversee a renewal book of business. You will also be required to develop and execute complex business strategies in support of the territory's goals. As such, you will be required to reside in the Boston area.

The ideal candidate is someone with proven success in commercial insurance distribution, who has polished professional communication skills and is a strong representation of Safety National and our Core Values, which are Relationships, Integrity, Teamwork, Balance, and Stability. Intimate knowledge of the commercial insurance brokers' network and a candidate with established relationships within would be preferred. Prior experience with an enterprise level Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system or other sales support software such as, Salesforce, is also desired.

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced Education in the fields of business, marketing, analytics, finance or risk management strongly preferred.


Required Qualifications:



  • 10 years or more years of experience in commercial insurance or other related industry
  • Experience with Workers' Compensation and loss sensitive casualty insurance products
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of commercial insurance brokers network
  • Proven ability to be present a persuasive value proposition
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Well established relationships with broker network in the Northeast territory
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Northeast frequently, and to the home office in St. Louis, MO occasionally
  • Willingness to adhere to a hybrid work schedule with a maximum of 2 days per week of work from home and 3 days per week in office or
  • visiting brokers and clients
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel


      Preferred Qualifications:



      • Prior experience in a production role
      • Prior experience with an enterprise CRM, preferably Salesforce

It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
