Position Summary
As a leader in nursing education, the Winston-Salem State University Division of Nursing is committed to providing diverse populations with a transformative educational experience rooted in the HBCU traditions. The Division of Nursing is dedicated to providing excellent, accessible, and responsive programs at the baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral levels. Graduates are prepared to be leaders in assuring the health equity of underserved individuals and communities, providing compassionate, evidence-based, and culturally responsive care, and educating our next generation of nurses.

Faculty in the Division of Nursing seeks one full-time, twelve-month Clinical Coordinator for the Advanced Nursing Education, Family of Nurse Practitioner, and Doctoral of Nursing tracks in the School of Health Sciences with a start date of July 2024.

The Division of Nursing seeks a committed and engaged staff who will perform specific duties at a high level. These duties include but are not limited to the following:

Clinical Coordination

  • Manages all aspects of the clinical placement process and ensures effective operation of clinical practicums.
  • Complete clinical agencies' onboarding process to ensure students start clinical on time. * Manages Typhon and JotForm to ensure complete and accurate student and clinical information.
  • Obtain clinical affiliations for submission to the Contract Coordinator and maintain executed contracts.
  • Ensure the adequacy of clinical evaluation tools and methods within the program to ensure consistency with learning outcomes and objectives.
  • Addresses practicum students' academic and discipline issues with the Course Coordinator and/or Department Chair
  • Maintain regular contact with clinical partners and preceptors to ensure timely placement and to further relationships with partner institutions.
  • Participates in the preceptor recruitment process by building relationships, attending events, and utilizing other outreach methods to secure preceptors for students who require assistance. This includes networking with healthcare practitioners in various settings to facilitate clinical placements for incoming and continuing students.


University, Professional, and Community Service and Engagement

  • Meet regularly and as requested with the course coordinators, program directors, and chairperson. Consistently attend departmental and School meetings.
  • Serve on School of Health Sciences Clinical Coordinator committees.

Faculty in the Division of Nursing seek exceptional candidates who demonstrate a commitment to excellence in clinical coordination to graduate and professional students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. The following qualifications and skills are required for this position:

  • Candidate must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing or a health-related Field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have a minimum of 6 months clinical coordinator or nursing/health management experience.

  • The candidate must demonstrate the ability to leverage various technologies and software to engage students and preceptors in the clinical process.
  • The successful candidate must possess effective oral and written communication strategies to create and maintain clinical partnerships and increase clinical placements.
  • Must provide evidence of the ability to mentor and support graduate students in clinical experiences and/or arrange study abroad or community service-learning experiences for graduate and professional students.

Preferred candidates must have a master's degree in nursing or a health-related Field. Candidates have clinical coordination experience at the college or university level. Candidates must exhibit the ability to engage in interdisciplinary/interprofessional clinical collaboration with the broader constituencies. Candidates should show a commitment to liberal education, social justice, and social determinants of health in community environments. We welcome candidates who are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Canvas, and Banner platforms.
