Job Description

We are looking for a Lead Sr. Linux Engineer with a Secret Clearance to join our team with experience working in a government contracting environment.

As the Lead Sr. Linux Engineer you will:



  • Collaborate with a team of driven, supportive, and highly skilled professionals.

  • Carry out line manager responsibilities for a small team of 5-7 members, including timesheet validation and approval, conducting annual performance reviews, and reporting to management.


A week in the life of a Lead Sr. Linux Engineer includes:



  • Lead and mentor a team of subject matter experts for Red Hat Enterprise Linux in a virtualized environment.
  • Work on automation efforts using Ansible, Ansible Automation Platform as well as modernization efforts implementing containerization
  • Use your strong RedHat linux knowledge to troubleshooting system failures and performance bottlenecks.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain procedural and process documentation

Job Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship with a minimum of Secret clearance
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a Security+ or equivalent IAT Level II (or higher) certification
  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience in Red Hat administration, leveraging expertise in DNS, DHCP, LDAP, SMTP, and Windows integration to resolve technical and functional issues.
  • Proficient with Ansible YAML for security baseline maintenance; experience with Red Hat patching (YUM updates, Satellite).
  • Read/write/shell/python scripting for migration and modernization efforts; experience with SVN (Subversion), command line, and TortoiseSVN.
  • Manage and mitigate system security risks; familiar with security principles such as DISA STIGs and IAVM system.
  • Monitor tools and perform system diagnostics; manage RHEL systems integrated with MS Active Directory.
  • Provide technical support for hardware and software; experience with VMware/vSphere virtualization.
  • Resolve complex problems with minimal guidance; prioritize and manage tasks to meet goals; willingness to learn new technologies; support Analysis of Alternative (AoA) exercises.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $160,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
