Our Molex Fiberguide facility in Caldwell, Idaho is seeking qualified candidates for our Applications Engineering Manager position. This role will create value by gathering information from customers and management to design specialty optical fiber products, solutions and assemblies for industrial and medical applications.

The company makes products ranging from interconnect components to collimators to complex fiber optic assemblies used in a wide range of industries. This Molex facility works with custom fiber optic assemblies, and bundles for industrial and medical applications.

What You Will Do

  • Provide expert-level technical assistance to our customers, helping them overcome their photonics systems challenges
  • Take ownership of customer-facing engineering projects, ensuring all aspects such as gathering requirements, solution development, and project management are executed effectively
  • Represent the company as the technical face during on-site customer meetings and at key industry events
  • Develop and document technical training for various functional areas within the business, enhancing our collective expertise
  • Create technical documentation such as datasheets, BOMs, and drawings for new product release by customers or regulatory authorities
  • Control of materials, article numbers, and documents according to internal and customer standards

  • Realization and documentation of change management
  • Lead the design of jigs and fixtures to improve production productivity and ergonomic comfort
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with REACH, RoHS, and QMS documentation for the engineering department
  • Engage in customer visits for detailed technical discussions and to address quality concerns
  • Act as the primary technical liaison between the company and customers to resolve any out-of-specification conditions, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with both the Quality department and Machine Shop
  • General management requirements such as reviews, RR&E development, technical training and design input
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving all design drawings for production and product development
  • Corrective action leader for the engineering/applications group

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Mechanical Engineering degree and/ or 5+ years of specialty fiber optic and optics experience
  • Experience in leading engineering projects and interfacing with customers
  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in fiber optic assembly analysis, fabrication, and test design
  • Experience with silicon photonics and waveguide technology
  • Experience with fused fiber bundles and assemblies
  • Experience analyzing, fabricating, and designing tests for fiber optic assemblies
  • Familiarity with ISO audits, QMS documentation, and industry certifications like REACH and RoHS
