Vision Research Center

UMKC's nationally recognized Vision Research Center (VRC) is dedicated to advancing and promoting optimal vision health in the community and worldwide. The VRC is an innovative research organization that integrates interdisciplinary collaborative research teams from the Departments of Ophthalmology and Biomedical Sciences at the School of Medicine, as well as faculty from the School of Pharmacy. The teams through strong interaction between basic, translational and clinical researchers bring discoveries in vision research, disease pathogenesis, and breakthroughs in drug target discovery and therapeutic drug development to patients and their communities.

Job Description

The Vision Research Center of the School of Medicine seeks a Research Scientist in the field of regenerative medicine for the treatment of vision diseases. Job duties and responsibilities include:

* Focusing on the use of 3D bioprinting combined with biodegradable scaffolds to create new models of ocular transplantation surgery.

* The position will specifically include the use of cell biology and physiology methods to analyze transplantation. The successful applicant will be expected to design and conduct experiments, analyze results, write manuscripts and present results at national meetings.

Qualifications

* PhD or doctoral degree in a field of science relevant to research in ophthalmology, i.e, biology, physics, engineering, biochemistry, chemistry
