General Summary of Position The Cashier Nutrition Services handles cash and credit transactions at the Hospital cafeteria; and maintains the area around the registers and dining area in an appealing/orderly manner. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Operates cash register (or equivalent), receives payments of cash, checks, and charges from customers or employees for good or services, making change and issuing receipts or tickets to customers.Ensures the accurate ring of proper PLU for sale items and/or accurate barcode scans.Maintains proper security of cash at all times.Prepares, as needed, for service by wiping table, vacuuming the floors, cleaning chairs and ensuring the acceptable appearance of the cafeteria.Informs supervisor of items that need to be reordered.Balances cash receipts and money drawer at the end of each shift.Provides support to the cafeteria operations, including setup, maintaining supplies and products, and assisting in cleanup and closedown.
Minimum Qualifications Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- May require up to 6 months of customer service preferably in a retail environment.
Experience
- 0 to 6 months experience in a retail environment required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires the ability to read and write; and knowledge of grammar, and arithmetic including fractions and decimals.
- May require the use of standard office/medical equipment (i.e., typewriter, personal computer, data terminal, on-line printer, calculator, telephone, facsimile, copier, sterilizing equipment, blood pressure cuff, or tables); the preparation, comparison or checking of reports, records and related data; and basic use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings and knowledge of their application.
This position has a hiring range of $17.938 - $24.67
