This position is responsible to perform maintenance activities which support the entire Springfield Danone operation, ensuring the plant is maintained in a safe, efficient manner, in accordance with plant safety protocol and operational procedures. Incumbent performs proactive troubleshooting, communication, and resolution of equipment performance issues with both the Maintenance and Operations teams. The incumbent is self-motivated, cooperative, reliable, patient, considerate, respectful, and passionate about the work that needs to be done and be able/willing to flex schedule based on business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

    Maintains a safe working environment, functioning as a member of a cooperative team and participates in safety work
  • Complies with all company and safety policies and practices, including lockout-tagout.
  • Responsible to conduct self and encourage coworkers to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with Company mission, values, and code of conduct, and company policies.
  • Performs planned maintenance activities according to a maintenance schedule, with attention to detail on the work being performed.
  • Follows work instructions and promptly and thoroughly communicates discovered issues.
  • Cleans, inspects, and replaces worn parts to keep equipment in optimal operating condition.
  • Executes Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedule and updates procedures as needed for continuous improvement.
  • Reads, enters information, and checks out parts in Maintenance Management System for repair or replacement.
  • Performs facility maintenance duties, as needed, including but not limited to, basic plumbing, electrical, structural, and mechanical repair, and sustainment tasks for the Danone properties.
  • Performs troubleshooting on a wide range of equipment operation deficiencies, identifies contributing factors, and makes corrections efficiently and effectively.
  • Communicates with all coworkers at all levels of the organization, sharing learnings with peers and operators, teaching them about the equipment.
  • Understands and adheres to personal and food safety standards established.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of hand tools, manual and electric.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Proficient in problem solving and able to participate and lead Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) activities.
  • Demonstrated use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and make recommendations on appropriateness of data for release.
  • Demonstration comprehension of written or verbal instructions, schedules, ingredients, recipes, safety procedures, emergency procedures, chemicals labels, graphs, charts, and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate specific information using verbal and simple hand signals to team members, leads, customers, supervisors, and internal/external people in a noisy environment.
  • Must be able to adjust schedule to support 24/7 manufacturing, may include working hours outside of a typical shift, including weekends as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and can compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Demonstrated ability to use multimeters and other electrical and mechanical tools.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and may be exposed to loud noises in the plant. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • Wears personal protective equipment daily; continuously reaches, pushes/pulls; frequently twists; occasionally stoops/bends; intermittently crouches, climbs, and balances; uses hands for repetitive fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, and simple grasp; and talk and hear under noisy conditions. Visual acuity and taste to discern product variation.
  • Working conditions frequently includes a cool indoor food production environment and occasional freezer environment, and intermittent outdoor environment. Clean environment, requiring hand washing every time you go on the floor 20+/- times a day.
  • The employee is exposed to both a general office environment where the noise level is usually moderate and manufacturing environment where noise levels are moderate to high.

About You

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - REQUIRED:

  • High diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated basic ability in the following:
    • Mechanical/electrical systems troubleshooting,
    • Pneumatical systems,
    • Steam Systems,
    • Electrical control systems and devices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - PREFERRED:

  • Minimum of 3 years working in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Possess a certification or training in a mechanical or technical field, with emphasis in mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, refrigeration/HVAC, metal work, or fabrication.
  • Basic to Intermediate PLC/controls skills.
  • Demonstrated experience reading technical manuals and one-line diagrams.
  • Demonstrated experience using a multimeter and other electrical and mechanical troubleshooting equipment.
