Director, Commercial Excellence and Planning - ENT

Working closely with the VP ENT and ENT business unit leadership, the role of the Commercial Planning professional is to spearhead the day-to-day efforts to develop and implement the ENT strategy and strategic projects to accelerate revenue and profitability for the ENT business unit. This includes working with leaders to develop ideas, accelerate commercial excellence, identify roadblocks and build, track and report success metrics. This position involves analyzing market trends, consumer behavior, and competition to create effective business strategies and leading indicators along with leveraging lead management systems to optimize the new opportunity funnel that will inform our strategies, tactics, and market models, to form recommendations on strategic opportunities that provide competitive advantage. This role will also lead the business through the business review and strategic planning process, providing structure, actionable insights and thought leadership. The Commercial Planning professional collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of these strategies and achieve the company's financial goals.

What you will be doing:

  • Collaborate to design a multi-year business strategy which allows Smith+Nephew to be an invaluable partner to our customers and drive above market growth performance.
  • Manage key projects and priorities across ENT including commercial excellence
  • Ensure effective translation of strategy to operational/business plans.
  • Engage with different leaders to challenge and improve growth and proactively identify and repair issues.
  • Identify and evaluate major growth opportunities to be prioritized for consideration.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities. Provide insights and recommendations to drive continuous improvement and competitive advantage.
  • Adapt to the changing healthcare environment and our new demands.
  • Direct execution of program plans within budget towards realization of financial objectives
  • Partner with functional workstreams to develop project plans and build capabilities
  • Oversee project management, M&A integration, governance and effective communication to drive business unit strategy
  • Lead the commercial strategic planning process to promote collaboration across functions and ensure an aligned commercial approach
  • Lead franchise performance assessment through governance meetings leveraging commercial excellence KPIs
  • Prepare executive level communications: Analyze and report financial performance, funnel opportunities and effectiveness, communicate business intelligence, develop presentations to communicate strategy and business priorities
  • Collaborate with various departments, including sales, marketing, finance, med ed, clinical, market access, regulatory, quality, supply chain, operations, and product development, to align commercial plans with overall business objectives. Foster effective communication and collaboration to ensure successful implementation of strategies.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years experience in sales and marketing leadership roles with strong ability to influence senior leadership, sales and marketing experience a plus.
  • Strong Leader with Project management experience, thought leadership, cross-functional people leadership and general management.
  • Ability to integrate technical and business trends and insights to identify, build, cultivate and scale growth opportunities
  • Ability to work within or outside of existing processes, to set clear objectives and remain adaptable to nurture ideas into breakthrough business opportunities
  • Cross-functional leader with excellent leadership skills able to influence and align resources and also able to operate both at the strategic and operational level
  • Proven experience in commercial planning, business strategy, or related roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in using analytical tools and software for data analysis and forecasting.
  • Familiarity with sales and marketing principles and practices.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Travel Requirements: 15-25%

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $180,000-$225,000 annually. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role at Smith+Nephew. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. In addition to base pay, we provide competitive bonus and benefits, which include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401k, tuition reimbursement, medical leave programs, and a variety of wellness offerings.
