Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Essential functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics.   • Provides initial assessment and initial primary care for injuries and illness within the facility and on the grounds; provides medical coverage during disaster evacuation drills, disaster evacuation responses, spills, fires, and site special events.
  • Works with others to administer ergonomic programs and conducts work station evaluations.
  • Documents and files all responses as required; maintains medical information and records in a confidential manner.
  • Administers injury management and return-to-work program for all site employees.
  • Oversees and assists site emergency response teams; facilitates monthly meetings; leads training; conducts drills and table top exercises.
  • Participates in incident investigations with health, safety, and environmental team members.
  • Administers the site hearing conservation program, including audiometric testing and hearing protection training and fitting; administers site prescription safety glasses and safety shoe programs.
  • Maintains health programs as required by provincial/state or federal agencies.
  • Initiates and assigns corrective actions once an incident has been reported; runs standard and ad hoc medical data reports for management; maintains medical data on a daily basis.
  • Trains employees on first aid; participates in new hire orientation; coordinates the maintenance of and orders first aid equipment, medical equipment, and related supplies and services; trains employees on blood borne pathogens.
  • Evaluates key performance indicators to drive functional and business performance improvements related to human resource investments.
  • Manages First Aid and care of work place injuries.
  • May develop and conduct training programs.
  • Drives and contributes to the department continuous improvement culture.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all matters.
  • Other duties as required.

Facility Specific Additions to Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Complete forms and maintain FMLA and short-term disability program.
  • Maintain attendance program, including points system, vacation & bonus day tracking and accruals.
  • Assists management in development and administration of safety program. Provides assistance in incident investigation and safety reporting.
  • Coordinate with outside Workers Compensation Insurance carrier on status and medical development of related cases.
  • Assists in completion of various reports such as OSHA log and annual reporting, etc.

Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

Required

Nurse Assistant, Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT),

Experience:

Required

Two or more years of relevant experience.

Preferred

Experience in Occupational Health and Safety

Competencies, Skills, and Knowledge:

Required

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Thorough knowledge of human resource information system capabilities.
