Job Description:

Part Time 24 weekly hours, day shift - This position will cover the educational needs of the CVU and Cardiac Cath Lab.

Job Summary:

Assists in the coordination of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the ongoing educational needs and activities of the staff (RNs, SPTs, & NATs). Works variable hours to meet the needs of the different units and shifts. Will assist, as needed, with ensuring required training and educational needs are met for cardiac specific accreditations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time dependent on service line and unit needs.

1. Develops, implements, and evaluates interdisciplinary staff educational needs and opportunities to enhance staff performance and professional growth.

2. Collaborates with managerial staff in the development of competency plans. Develops competency evaluations and responsible for the implementation of competencies.

3. Assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating departmental orientation of new employees.

4. Maintains documentation of staff educational requirements and activities.

5. Collaborates with management, staff, MD's, and other educators to assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

6. Acts as a liaison for department to organization by membership on committees, task forces, etc. within the department, hospital, and corporation.

7. Fosters respect for the Clinical Educator role through high personal visibility and accessibility by management and staff.

8. Enhances the role of Unit Educator through self-development.

9. Works in staffing on the units as directed by of the Director of Nursing.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:

A. Minimum 3-5 years work experience with patients in area of practice.

B. Current Kentucky RN license, BCLS and ACLS certified.

C. BSN or specialty certification required.
