STV's Chicago operation is for a Transportation Project Engineer to join our highly skilled Civil Design Team in Chicago.

You will work with various agencies, such as Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), Illinois Tollway, and various other DOTs, counties, and cities, throughout Illinois and the country. The primary focus of this role is on project delivery and executing technical design tasks for various infrastructure improvement projects, including roadway, utility, and/or site design. In this role, the individual is expected to lead the technical aspects for design projects, including plans, specifications, calculations, exhibits, forms, and reports that meet clients' expectations.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the technical tasks associated with Phase 1 and Phase 2 transportation projects

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to technical engineering staff across the team

  • Execute technical tasks including developing technical reports, plans, specifications, supporting calculations, and client required forms

  • Ability to meet with client and associated stakeholders and perform site visits in the field as necessary

  • Develop and/or provide guidance on producing technical reports, calculations, memos, and forms related to a specific transportation subject matter (i.e. geometrics, drainage, traffic studies, bicycle paths, traffic signals, etc.)

  • Coordinate with outside consultants (sub or prime) regarding project specific tasks, schedule, progress and reviews

  • Use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, including Microstation, GeoPak, and/or OpenRoads, to produce plans, details, alternatives, and exhibits for transportation improvement projects

  • Willingness and ability to lead or assist in the development of design templates to streamline plan production and improve quality across the team

  • Assist Project Managers and/or Group Leads to plan resources and coordinate internal workshare opportunities

  • Attend industry workshops, seminars, trainings, and conferences

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, or related field

  • Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) License or ability to obtain within one (1) year; PE licenses in other states is a plus

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with civil design

  • Experience with Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Illinois Tollway, City of Chicago, utility agencies, and/or municipalities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microstation, GeoPak, ProjectWise, and OpenRoads

  • Good oral and written communication skills

Compensation Range:

$78,005.00 - $104,007.00
