Your Role

The Data & Analytics (D&A) team partners with enterprise-wide business stakeholders to apply the power of data & analytics to deliver new insights and data-driven solutions to accelerate business outcomes. Reporting to the Senior Director of Analytics, the Sr Manager of Analytics is responsible for working with the key stakeholders from Case Management & Nurse Management and Medical Care Solutions, and others to be the Data & Analytics partner in accelerating achieving business objectives and operations. This critical analytics team collaborates with other analytical and business teams and delivers analytical insights to power the business forward. This role requires not only in-depth knowledge of pharmacy claims data domain, but also a broad understanding of the business and business levers that matter. Being able to act as a "two-in-a-box" partner with business stakeholders is critical. You will be leading a group of analysts, managing against multiple competing deadlines, supporting stakeholders and D&A to achieve their goals.

This role must be adept at "translating" the business problem and/or requirements into an analytical approach, driving the team of consultants, and bringing in other specialties from within the D&A team such as data engineering, visualization, predictive modeling, and data governance as appropriate. The Sr Manager of Analytics leads a team of analysts, has in-depth understanding of how information is consumed, and how analytics support these key business functions in the organization. Your Work



  • Partner with Care Management team as a data analytics subject matter expert to address data needs to support pharmacy operational, strategic and compliance needs.
  • Manage data operations to support case management operations, regulatory reporting and adhoc analytics needs.
  • Design, develop and lead analytical solutions to support client growth and retention, key performance measurement for provider partnerships and medical care programs.
  • Lead a team of analysts who provide data and analytics support for care management engagement, cost of healthcare, clinical programs, Medicare, and Medicaid mandated regulatory reporting needs and data extracts.
  • Implement data quality rules necessary to ensure timely and accurate delivery of reports.
  • Provide care management subject expertise to cloud migration teams.
  • Partner with other Data and Analytics teams like advanced analytics and data services to provide scalable analytical solutions to Pharmacy Services.
  • Work closely with senior director of care delivery analytics and business operations to drive adoption of analytical products developed.
  • Lead the transition of current ETL process to Data Services team.
  • Perform other functions as needed.


Your Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of data/analytics experience, 5+ years of experience with case management and medical claims data is required. 5 years management experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • Expert-level knowledge of SAS, and SQL, Python and/or Tableau and Salesforce cloud experience desired.
  • Thorough understanding of the health plan operations data.
  • Experience in translating business problems into analytical approaches, driving solutions, partnering to implement change, and measuring outcomes.
  • Experience in partnering with business stakeholders to drive business outcomes through analytics.
  • Clear communicator and influencer that can operate at multiple levels from analyst to executive.
  • Experience building, engaging, and retaining high performing teams
  • Requires at least five to ten years management or project management experience in a healthcare setting

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 145970.00 to $ 218900.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
