Description: The Department of Health and Exercise Science at Wake Forest University invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with expertise in Health and Exercise Science with an emphasis in clinical nutrition research to begin July 1, 2025. We seek an active scholar with a focused line of research that strives to improve the nutritional health of adults through lifestyle interventions. We are committed to academic distinction and diversity among the faculty, staff, and students. The successful candidate will teach a variety of Health and Exercise Science courses depending on the candidate's expertise, including Nutrition, Human Physiology, Epidemiology or Exercise Physiology. Other responsibilities include creating a productive research program of national and international significance; mentoring undergraduate and graduate research projects; academic and career advising of students; and departmental, college, and university service.

Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in nutrition or a closely related field. Additional expectations include post-doctoral training and teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels; research experience with demonstrated scholarship via first-authored publications; mentoring undergraduate or graduate students; experience with randomized clinical trial research; and a demonstrated potential for successful extramural funding.

Department of Health and Exercise Science at Wake Forest University: Our interdisciplinary department's mission is to advance the understanding of health and the prevention/treatment of chronic disease and physical disability. We are located on the WFU Reynolda Campus and host approximately 225 undergraduate majors and 18 master's level graduate students. The department has 9 tenure-track faculty and 5 teaching professionals. The department offers both B.S. and M.S. Degrees in Health and Exercise Science. Collaborative opportunities also exist within the numerous Wake Forest University and Wake Forest School of Medicine departments, institutes, and centers, such as the Translational Science Center, Biomedical Engineering, Center on Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism (CDOM), Center for Neurobiology of Addiction Treatment, Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity (MACHE), Women's Center, and the Sticht Center for Healthy Aging and Alzheimer's Prevention (CHAAP).
