The North American AIDS Cohort Collaboration on Research and Design (NA-ACCORD) is looking for an organized, detail-oriented Biostatistician to help maintain large-scale, longitudinal data on people with HIV in the US and Canada. The NA-ACCORD is the largest collaboration of adults with HIV in North America, and the study is currently in its 17th year. Observational, longitudinal, individual-level data are pooled using a collaborative study design across >20 interval and clinical cohort studies of >180,000 adults who have contributed >1.3 million person-years of follow-up (www.naaccord.org) This position will be filled by someone who can provide expertise on data management including data quality control. This individual may also conduct data analyses to answer research questions using observational, longitudinal data, participate as a co-author on manuscripts and presentations reporting study results. Applicant must be willing to work collaboratively with the NA-ACCORD Epidemiology/Biostatistics Core (EBC) study team in consultation with scientific investigators at the contributing cohorts, as well as external scientific investigators. One-to-two years of post-graduate experience with cleaning, merging, and analyzing large datasets is required. Experience analyzing observational (as opposed to clinical trials) data is preferred. Collaboration with others on the team is critical for this position. Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Use and expand existing SAS and R programs to clean and organize incoming NA-ACCORD data.
- Identify potential problems with study data and collaborate with data managers to resolve issues.
- Generate analytic data sets, codebooks, and other documentation.
- Document decision-making during conduct of studies and archive code for purposes of reproducibility of research findings.
- Analyze individual-level data to answer scientific questions of interest.
- Prepare data tables and figures for publication and presentation at scientific meetings.
- Contribute to technical/scientific writing and review drafts of concept sheets, reports, posters, and manuscripts, particularly descriptions of statistical methods and interpretation of results.
- Navigate shared files and contribute to shared files to create a transparent research workspace.
- Review concept sheets with particular focus statistical analysis plans specific to research objectives.
- Assist with writing approach section of research proposals.
- Attend weekly EBC staff meetings and provide status updates on data processing and research projects.
- Use professional judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

- Excellent problem-solving skills, including investigating possible solutions and presenting them to the EBC team for discussion.
- Ability to work independently. This is a hybrid position with two days of face-to-face interaction with team members and three days working from home/a location of your choice. If the applicant demonstrates experience successfully working remotely, 100% remote work may be an option if desired.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for the preparation and presentation of results.
- Collaboration with others on the team is critical for this position. Interpersonal skills in dealing with investigators and a team-oriented approach with other EBC members and scientific investigators are required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or related quantitative field.
- One-year related experience.
- Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
- Intermediate SAS programming skills (NA-ACCORD data quality control programs are written in SAS).
- Mastery of Zoom teleconferencing, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
- Solid planning and organizational skills, and ability to prioritize work independently without daily direction from investigators.
- Familiarity with survival analysis.
- Advanced SAS programming skills.
- Intermediate R statistical programming skills.
- Interest in HIV research.
