Position Summary:


To perform routine and specialized examinations in MRI; adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results; prepare patients for examinations. To adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist


Qualifications:


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Associate's Degree in the field(s) of Radiology or completion of an ARRT eligible MRI program

CERTIFICATION & LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

(MR)(ARRT) OR ARMRIT upon hire OR within 1 year of hire BLS within 1 year of hire

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Experience in/with positive outcomes in working with others

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position
  • Work may occasionally require travel to other Carle Health facilities/hospitals
  • requireduired to drive your own vehicle for business purposes


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser. Multicultural sensitivityCritical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions


Essential Functions:

  • Clinical Excellence/Patient Care* Performs MRI procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging* Exhibits competency in performing MRI procedures.* Evaluates the finished images to ensure appropriate identification and image quality are being submitted to the radiologists* Ensures patient comfort and safety (i.e. use of earplugs) to maintain quality care during the procedure* Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing
  • Employee Development/Performance Improvement* Maintains working knowledge of equipment in order to function on both high field and low field magnet* Technically knowledgeable of equipment operation including hardware and software* Performs reasonable trouble shooting* Checks equipment for general safety and reports problems through appropriate channels* Knows terminology or jargon of all magnet strengths
  • Departmental Support* Performs support functions of the MRI/Medical Imaging Department* Promptly prepares images/paperwork to ensure timely turnaround of the exams* Transport patients to and from the department as required* Promptly and accurately enter patient information into the HIS system* Coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient patient care* Ensures safe environment by monitoring people who come within zone 3 & 4* Demonstrates a practical problem solving approach to patient moving and handling issues* Demonstrates skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment* Assumes responsibility for training fellow technologists and students* Assists Lead Technologist in teaching MRI procedures to coworkers/students
