Overview

The Linehaul Operations Agent II is responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations of linehaul routes within the assigned geographic region. This role involves coordinating schedules, tracking shipments and ensuring effective and time transportation of goods tendered through the AIT Middle Mile Network. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities and a comprehensive understanding of the logistics industry.

*This is a remote position - must be able to work Wednesday-though Saturday 7:00pm-6:00am (4 10-hour shifts). If a candidate is located within 50 Miles of an AIT facility and that facility becomes a 24/7, the position will no longer be remote. That individual will be required to report to the AIT facility for their shift.



Responsibilities

    Apply acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to support linehaul operations for efficiency and execution, and report on service failures caused by the assigned asset-based carrier. This includes monitoring and tracking operations, providing real time updates to both operations and clients, and addressing issue promptly.
  • Follow established procedures in coordinating with AIT Middle Mile Network field operations and management to ensure that any additional linehaul needs, outside of the normal scheduled operations are met. This can include booking additional loads, adding additional stops to pre-scheduled linehauls by monitoring the volumes within the assigned geographic region, maintain accurate records of linehaul activities, and route details and shipment information.
  • Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature in routing, ensuring optimal and efficient utilization and ensuring service requirements are met. Prepare and present regular reports on linehaul operations to AIT Middle Mile Network Management
  • Collect data on carrier performance in the assigned geographic region and provide feedback for the Linehaul Supervisor to review and implement correct actions with carrier or carriers as necessary. Prepare and present regular reports on linehaul operations to AIT Middle Mile Network Management
  • Communicate effectively with carriers, customer and internal teams to ensure smooth operation and resolve any operational challenges utilizing experience and commonly used problem solving methods. Negotiate rates with carriers to ensure cost-effective and competitive pricing for linehaul services. Ensure carriers are compliant with the AIT Middle Mile Network standards for on time performance


Qualifications

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Or equivalent related work experience Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 2+ years Proven experience in transportation or logistics field, preferably in a linehaul or long-haul trucking environment. Required
  • 2+ years Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast paced working environment. Required
  • 2+ years LTL or HUB Operations Experience Preferred
  • 2+ years Knowledge of transportation regulations and industry best practices Preferred
  • 2+ years Monitoring asset-based carrier performance and developing corrective actions for service improvements. Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with AS400, Freight forwarding and basic understanding of routing operations. (Medium proficiency)
  • Communicate with vendors/suppliers regarding shipment dispatch, routing and rates (High proficiency)
  • Manage daily on-time and defect codes, carrier re-weights and ensure all masters rated. (High proficiency)
  • Capability of extracting, reviewing and processing data to formulate reasonable assumptions and communicate these assumptions to the direct supervisor or customer. (Medium proficiency)
  • Analytical Thinking - being able to translate data into usable and executable actions - at times, this will be immediate and reporting directing to management, and as part of a contributor to a larger team. (High proficiency)
  • Problem Solving - being able to effectively and efficiently assess a situation, take immediate action, and provide information to the Linehaul Supervisor for review of action taken. (Medium proficiency)
