Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Manager, Facilities Development and Management, is responsible for managing the collection, organization, maintenance and retrieval of project related drawings and specifications. Will be responsible for establishing and maintaining LSC electronic database library and for establishing and managing the administrative and technical processes associated with the short and long-term planning activities system-wide. Using AutoCAD, or other BIM (Building Information Modeling) software, will analyze, develop and design preliminary ("test-fit") plans as necessary to explore feasibility of system projects, creating stacking diagrams and maintaining / establishing life safety plans, etc. Supports the facilities and construction organization by maintaining space allocation database / guidelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Evaluate, develop, and design preliminary plans (using AutoCAD) for feasibility studies of projects and life-safety plans etc. Establish and maintain space allocations, database and guidelines
  2. Establishes, manages, and maintains LSC electronic drawing library and consults with Department Supervisors as needed; collates, categorizes and maintains detail project sets, including but limited to Record Drawings, Project Specifications, Technical Reports and Operations/Maintenance manuals
  3. Establishes and manages CAD filing system, including but not limited to maps, site plans, and as-built documents building equipment data
  4. In collaboration with the facility supervisor(s), analyze and provide space planning support as requested for the LSC space portfolio
  5. Maintain plans and specification files for building, systems, and major equipment
  6. Assist in the development, management and inventory of the building standards regarding space, furniture and key distribution
  7. Manages furniture, fixture and equipment library including product samples and literature by working closely with product and industry representatives
  8. Assists in the development and upkeep of facilities operations forms, protocols and resources
  9. Manages the database for assignment of space usage and type date as defined by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) codes; coordinates with internal staff for small moves and office rearrangements as directed
  10. Creates and maintains current and planned stacking diagrams for multi-story office buildings to support strategic space planning activities as directed
  11. Responsible for assisting with departmental budget planning and oversight
  12. Develop and maintain campus life safety maps, as required by EHLS and Emergency Management
  13. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent working knowledge and command of AutoCad products
  • Knowledge of project management software such as ProCore, BlueBeam, ebuilder, etc.
  • Knowledge of BIM software such as Revit, SketchUp, Autodesk, etc.
  • Fluent PC computer skills with intimate knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Visio
  • Basic knowledge of architectural, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, roofing, structural and HVAC system
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, AutoCad, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
  • May regularly travel to different LSC locations
  • May be fully reassigned to other LSC locations, if necessary
  • May need to work weekends and untraditional hours, if necessary

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • AutoCAD certification or equivalent AutoCAD experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Sustainable Facility Professional (SFP), Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP), Facility Management Professional (FMP), Certified Facilities Manager (CFM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Certificate of Management/Building Information Modeling (CM/BIM) certifications
Salary

Hiring salary range is $67,746 to $77,908.

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
