GENERAL FUNCTION:
The electrician installs and repairs wiring, fixtures, and equipment for all electrical services aboard vessels and in the facility.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities:
- Follow blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Install conduit to bulkheads with brackets and screws and thread wires through conduit to terminals such as connection boxes, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, and switch panels.
- Connect power-supply circuits to radio, radar, sonar, fire control, and other electronic equipment.
- Test electrical characteristics, such as voltage, resistance, and phase angle in circuits using meters and indicators.
- Construct and install instrument panels using hand tools, rulers, dividers, and power drills, following specifications.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of blueprints and drawings or schematics preferred.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Marine Electrician.
- Ability to read and interpret standard construction drawings and specifications.
- Good working knowledge of systems operations and job-related tools, gauges, meters, etc.
- Familiarity with all aspects of craft-specific marine construction, from design through installation and testing.
