The Senior Controls Engineer leads the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of machinery and automation for use in manufacturing. Applications are sophisticated, requiring cross-disciplinary integration and wide application of concepts.

Job Description

  • Design electrical drawings, ladder logic, HMI programs and integrate Safety PLC control systems for machinery and automation.
  • Thorough understanding of safety in a manufacturing environment and how it applies to controls design.
  • Work with equipment suppliers and ensure compliance with AAM equipment specifications.
  • Knowledgeable in mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of fluid power systems.
  • Understanding of robot integration and programming.
  • Ability to work with equipment design team and provide recommendations on equipment design and integration.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Work on multiple, projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
  • Ability to work with contractors and oversee the electrical installation portion of equipment.
  • Work effectively on a team and in individual situations.
  • Support plant maintenance and controls teams.
  • Capable of working with and training entry level controls engineers and students.
  • Work experience in Allen Bradley PLC, ControlLogix, Servo Controllers, HMI products and software.
  • Understanding of NFPA & OSHA regulations.

Required Skills and Education

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or related field from accredited college/university or Trade School
  • 7+ years' experience in controls engineering position.
