Marcum LLP provides outsourced managed accounting services to growing and mature companies, and we're in search for a highly motivated paraprofessional who is eager to grow in this line of businesses. In this full-time position, you will be a key team member at several different clients in a variety of industries that will provide you with broad exposure to different businesses, management styles, cultures and best practices.

Job Description

  • Develop close working relationships with management throughout all areas of the group
  • Ensure that transactions are accounted for in accordance with established company policies and in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Assist in monthly/quarterly/annual close and preparation of relevant work papers
  • Regional and local travel to client locations and training courses
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree equivalent required in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Experience in various functions of back-office and bookkeeping including processing of accounts payable and disbursements, processing billing/AR invoices to client's customers, payroll processing and recording
  • Experience in the preparation of certain tax filings such as Sales and Use Tax, Property Tax Declaration, annual 1099 forms is a plus
  • Experience in account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations
  • Experience in monthly/quarterly/annual close procedures and review of client's Financial Statements
  • Knowledge of use of Accounting Systems such as Quickbooks (Desktop/Online versions), Xero, ComputerEase, Sage, and electronic A/P bill payment systems such as Bill.com, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of use of ProSystem Engagement is a plus, but not required
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present accounting concepts in a clear and concise manner to team and to clients
  • Focusing on organization of transactions and paying attention to details within the reconciliations and supporting details
  • Ability to handle a variety of different tasks for multiple clients and meet multiple deadlines while at all times demonstrating cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
  • Ability to problem-solve and think quickly, creatively, and logically to respond to complex client inquiries in a timely manner
