Job Title: AV Architect
Location with zip code: Washington, D.C
Duration: 6 months
Job Description:
- AV designs for the OCC to suit the size, configuration, capacity, and intended use for a given room or space. Although often referred to as rooms, these rooms or spaces needing AV treatment may not conform to a typical definition of a room (e.g., reception area, lobby). This Order provides design services for rooms where a standard room design, or minor alterations to a standard design, do not adequately satisfy the AV needs of the OCC. This Order also provides consultation and design services for the standard room designs where the contractor reviews existing standards, recommends modifications, and works with the OCC to create new standards as needed. The standard designs should cover most common room sizes, configuration, and uses.
- Gather Requirements: Gather the needs, goals, and expectations for their AV needs. These requirements should be focused on the business uses and needs for the room or space.
- Assess the Space: Evaluate the physical environment where the system will be installed, including the dimensions of the room, lighting conditions, acoustics, and any other architectural constraints.
- Determine Equipment and Technology: According to the requirements and space assessment, recommend the equipment and technology that gives the best results to the OCC. The recommended equipment may include, but is not limited to, projectors, screens, cameras, microphones, speakers, acoustical room treatment, and AV control systems. The recommendations should also integrate and support the OCC AV strategy for remote diagnostics, remediation, and control.
- Design System Layout: Create a system design that accommodates the needs/requirements of the OCC and balances considerations such as functionality, ease of use, cost, aesthetics, maintainability, and other factors contributing to successful AV implementation. The contractor is expected to provide expert advice to the OCC on other factors that will contribute to a successful AV implementation.
- Test and Optimize: Testing of installed designs fall under Order 2 for Installations. For the design itself, the contractor shall perform peer reviews of the designs for completeness and an assessment of how well the design meets the OCC's requirements.
