Role

The Tampa, Florida office of Milliman, an international firm of actuaries and consultants is seeking a candidate for an actuarial internship during the Fall/Summer of 2024 and 2025. In this role, the intern will be exposed to projects across all aspects of the health actuarial space. The successful candidate will review, organize, and analyze statistical data; develop and utilize actuarial models; analyze healthcare costs and utilization data; implement software solutions under actuaries' supervision. As well, they would assist our Analysts and Consultants in the development, checking, and utilization of actuarial models to further completion of timely deliverables.

This position provides an excellent entrance into the actuarial field and will provide building blocks to a successful actuarial career.

Job description:



  • Review, organize and analyze statistical data
  • Develop and utilize actuarial models
  • Analyze healthcare costs and utilization data
  • Implement software solutions under actuaries' supervision
  • Assist our Analysts and Consultants in the development, checking, and utilization of actuarial models


Qualifications:



  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field
  • Planned graduation in 2025 or 2026
  • GPA 3.5 or above
  • Successfully completed one or more Society of Actuaries exams
  • Proficient in MS Excel; SAS and VBA programming knowledge a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good attitude and strong work ethic required

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $19 - $36, depending on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc. The expected application deadline for this job is October 15, 2024.

Location

This role is based out of the Milliman office in Tampa, FL, but candidates hired into this role may work remotely anywhere in the US.
