JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A Research Technologist - Life Sciences position is immediately available in the Dr Elisa Bradley lab in the Penn State College of Medicine, in Hershey, PA, to study the impact of arrhythmia and heart failure in congenital heart disease. Our laboratory uses multidisciplinary approaches to study the structural and electrical components of cardiovascular function in adults surviving congenital heart disease. Our research spans from human to animal, employing novel imaging and electrophysiologic techniques, to name a few. The successful candidate will employ cell culture skills, cell imaging, and cell patch clamp techniques, as well as small animal echocardiography skills, murine surgical skills to implant radiotelemetry devices and perform transaortic constriction, monitoring of electrocardiographic data and catecholaminergic stress testing, as well as basic laboratory techniques to perform immunoblotting assays, fluorescence imaging, fluorescence-based studies employing a robotics microplate reader, quantitative PCR, gel electrophoresis and cell culture techniques. The successful candidate must demonstrate technical and theoretical knowledge of the aforementioned assays. As a consequence, the candidate will be expected to analyze the data collected and present the results in formal presentations, manuscripts and grant applications.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, withpossibility of refunding.

This position will be filled at an Professional or Intermediate Professional depending on the candidate's education and experience. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional education and/or experience required for higher level positions.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $55,500.00
