Orbis is seeking a Data Engineer to lead research design, data collection, and data analysis activities for a leading aerospace and defense company. Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement research designs with practical strategies for conducting evaluations across networks, applications, and data storage, Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security across all systems through robust governance and quality control practices. Analyze data design to recommend and implement ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality, Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership based on research plans, activities, findings, and recommendations Brief senior-level customers on research plans, status of activities, findings, and recommendations Generate operational proposals based upon your findings and recommendations

Education and Experience
A bachelor's degree is required for this position. Minimum of 3 years' experience in data engineering, database administration, or related technical roles. Background and familiarity of network administration and network discovery preferred but not desired
Required Skills/Abilities

Success in integrating data from multiple sources, including APIs, databases, and third-party platforms, into centralized data repositories Ability to extract insights from a wide variety of disparate data sources, including technical networks and communications specifications to produce comprehensive, tailored deliverables Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala for data processing tasks Excellent oral and written communication skills, including visual representation of networks and data flows using charts and graphs Proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint Ability to perform in an individual contributor role while also excelling in a team environment
Desired Skills/Abilities
Demonstrated experience leading program evaluation activities Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and their data services (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Data Lake). Knowledge of network discovery tools and techniques Experience in data pipeline development to design, build, and maintain workflows that transform raw data into usable formats for analysis, ensuring scalability and efficiency. Proficiency with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines Past work with data security and governance measures and ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) as it relates to the aerospace or defense industry
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Routine video conference and/or in-person meetings. Ability for local travel to the Arlington, VA area. May require sponsorship for a Secret level clearance.
