Position Summary

The Center for Social Policy (CSP) is a collaborative project within the University of New Mexico. The purpose of the Center is to increase the diversity of those with formal training in the fields of economics, political science and sociology who engage in health services and health policy research. Particularly, the Center seeks to become a nationally recognized locus for health and social policy research that will support work to inform policy debates at multiple levels.
We are looking for an undergraduate research assistant to join our team at CSP. Duties will vary and include literature reviews, data collection (such as assisting and/or conducting and facilitating focus groups and interviews), analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, helping write and copy edit reports and policy briefs, attending meetings, and assisting in other miscellaneous tasks. Students are not necessarily required to have prior experience with data analysis, and the team at CSP is open to training students. This research assistantship may be a good fit for students who want to go onto graduate school to study political science, law, economics, sociology or psychology and/or learn how to do research in both an academic and applied policy setting.
We encourage students to check out some of the work we have done at the center to assess whether substantively, we are a good fit: https://csp.unm.edu/research/current-research.html
