Overview

36 hours per week

7A-7:30P, every 3rd weekend, holiday rotation

Minimum pay - $35.50 per hr | Pay to commensurate with experience

Non-Exempt, Full-time Benefits Eligible

The Gen Med Unit (H9A) cares for a range of patients which do not fit any other specialty (i.e. Asthma, Failure to Thrive (FTT), Hyperbilirubinemia, readmit unit for neonatal, first-time seizure, adolescent med. It is a fast-paced unit that typically turns over 8-10 patients per day, with 90% of admissions coming from the Emergency Room. More facts below:

  • 60-70% of patients are babies
  • Average patient stay is 2-3 days

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the activities of a particular shift and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the employees.
  • Ensures adequate supplies, equipment and utilization of staff.
  • Serves as an expert EPIC Super User.
  • Assesses, monitors, and supports employees throughout the shift.
  • Facilitates direct patient care through coaching, delegation and service recovery.
  • Provides direct patient care as needed.
  • Engages in the workplace community by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings
  • Ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Institutes emergency responses as appropriate.
  • Maintains quality and safety as a priority.
  • Specifies the critical resources required to accomplish the team's objectives.
  • Makes appropriate staffing decisions with understanding and consideration of workload targets and budget impact.


Qualifications

Education Requirement:

BSN

Licensure Requirement:

Active Ohio Nursing License

Experience:

Two years nursing experience, preferred.
