What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a motivated candidate to provide administrative support for Global Cooperation and Security programs including international best practices for Laboratory Design, Biological and Chemical Risk Management program scheduling and tracking, and improving on mission delivery. The position will require work within administrative/technical science and engineering environment, working in conjunction with Sandia staff on interdisciplinary projects that involve applying integrated administrative/technical judgment, using the analytical method to recognize and formulate problems with scheduling and document control, to collect data through observation and analysis, and to formulate and test hypotheses about the uses and deployment of advanced administrative concepts in support of U.S. global security goals.

On any given day, you may be asked to:



  • Perform tasks for Global Chemical Biological Security group to support specific functions and project In Biological Risk Management.

  • Gather, collect, record, track, and verify data and information from multiple sources.

  • Review and analyze data and information, and reconciles report discrepancies.

  • Lead information management using construction project information software (e.g. Newforma) to support Laboratory design projects.

  • Support team leads and management quality assurance for portfolio management and sponsor interactions such as proposal development, quarterly reporting, training curriculum delivery, training plans, training reports, etc.

  • Lead internal compliance assurance for foreign travel and contracting, including oversight of on and off-site logistics service providers.

  • Use common office software and proprietary software to compile and generate reports, statistics, timelines, tables, and graphs; to review status of projects and budgets; and to create presentations.

  • Partnering across the complex and with the FPM to assess and respond to product and procurement equities that impact supply chain security.

  • Evaluating product usage at SNL, partnering with SMEs to provide timely evaluations, utilizing/interfacing with a custom database for case management and reporting, and responding to inquiries within 5 business days to meet congressional requirements.

    The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.



Salary Range:

$46,000 - $84,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:



  • High school diploma plus five (5) or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. May have secondary education.

  • Experience in the following:

  • General administrative services and activities.

  • Newforma construction management software and CAD File Review and Integration.

  • Tracking and maintaining schedules for resource management using tools such as Primavera P6, MS SharePoint, PowerBI, Dashboards, etc.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q-level security clearance.

  • Developing competencies and implement systems to support new activities in laboratory design, sponsor interactions, and scheduling that require information.

  • Governmental regulations and potential environmental impacts related to administrative practices and assigned business function.

  • Organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines, frequent interruptions, and competing priorities.

  • SPP funded work and with USG funding agencies, including the Department of Defense/State.

  • Data management and storage in security environments.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and as an individual.

  • Passion for learning and dedication to mentorship.

  • Federal Travel Management System, proven teaming with international partners and across organizational boundaries.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment and interact with all levels of internal and external personnel, including the ability to network with senior internal and external administrative personnel.

  • Ability to work in a security environment and apply regulatory or safety requirements to design projects.



About Our Team:

The 06825 Department is multidisciplinary and focuses on advancing international threat reduction goals by promoting safe, secure, and responsible use of dangerous biological and chemical agents around the globe. The GCBS program provides specific technical advice to the US Government on issues related to counter chem/bio terrorism, the Biological Weapons Convention, the Chemical Weapons Convention, and has projects in the following areas: Laboratory security system analysis, design and implementation; agent risk prioritization; outbreak control and management; information control and management; using training as tool to build capacities that can address US Government's Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) goals; and global, regional, and country-specific analysis and assessments. These projects involve both US interests as well as those of various foreign countries and international organizations.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Position Information:

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
