SUMMARY

Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for an Inventory Analyst in our Distribution department. This full-time position will work Monday thru Friday with a 6:00am start time.

Supports the inventory management processes to achieve the Supply Chain Management (SCM) goals and objectives of the organization. Assists in managing all official inventory locations and kanban inventory replenishment system throughout the organization. Identifies metrics to ensure sustainability and assisting with inventory reduction goals. Identifies opportunities for process improvement, improving customer service, assisting in the development of key reporting tools, and playing a key/lead role in establishing a robust inventory management system.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Maintain and update inventory records including creating efficient and accurate management procedures
  • Meet with unit leaders and storeroom staff to address the varying needs of specific supply rooms
  • Analyze supply room usage data from PeopleSoft queries and reports
  • Insures that all daily activities necessary to maintain effective inventory management procedures are performed
  • Make recommendations to the Inventory Systems Supervisor on programs to improve the management of inventory, including how to prevent loss
  • Plan and implement a recoup program to ensure all damaged/defective products are accounted for and properly handled including maintaining records to accurately track recouped products
  • Develop procedures to monitor and control products with a shelf life to insure that expiring products are kept to a minimum and promptly removed for active inventory
  • Oversee the inventory quality and accuracy assurance programs, including weekly and monthly reports
  • Develop ongoing programs to identify and reduce or eliminate all slow moving/obsolete inventory items
  • Process and put away supply room overstock while using root cause analysis to reduce risk of reoccurrence
  • Provide strong leadership in guiding and supporting department managers in appropriate inventory control to manage costs and meet department fluctuations
  • Make recommendations to program improvements and enhancements
  • Provide support for departmental staff in making the appropriate changes to ensure efficient workflow
  • Collaborate with primary vendors to ensure product availability for conversions or forecast changes
  • Conduct, as necessary, any to locate products within the system. Control, administer and correct/prevent all inventory adjustments when there are discrepancies between actual product and records
  • Develop a program to audit returns and move product to its proper location. When necessary, process proper documentation to generate a prompt credit transaction
  • Takes appropriate action on product that is not in saleable condition
  • Support the cycle count program and make all system adjustments as necessary
  • Assists in the development of an inventory management plan for the entire organization with aggressive goals to achieve inventory reductions
  • Monitors inventory levels through report tools to identify and take corrective action on matters relating to potential inventory shortages, stock-outs, manufacturer backorders, or any customer related issue that may exist
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives and participates in productivity improvement events
  • Makes recommendations
  • Perform additional related duties or activities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Associate degree in business or related field
  • Five years' experience in managing inventory


OR


  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, supply chain or a closely related field
  • Seven plus years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Inventory
  • Management, Strategic Sourcing, or Purchasing
  • Professional certification preferred, i.e., CMRP, CPM, CPSM, or CPIM
  • Experience working in a hospital supply chain management department
  • Experience of building an inventory management system
