Job Description: The Patient Care Tech functions as a clinical support partner to assist the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional.Acute Cardiovascular Unit - Level 3 We are a specialized Cardiovascular Telemetry department that cares for a variety of cardiothoracic patients including post open heart surgeries, heart transplants, heart failure, CABG, valve replacement, lung surgeries, esophageal surgeries, vascular surgeries, myocardial infarction, post cardiac catheterization patients, mechanical circulatory heart patients and a wide range of cardiac IV medications. We develop skills involving chest tubes, epidurals, temporary pacemakers, measuring central venous pressures, IV insertion, EKG interpretation, and mechanical circulatory heart devices. PCTs are cross trained as Telemetry Monitoring Technicians and Health Unit Coordinators. Minimum Qualifications Current CNA Certification. - and - Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. If working in Utah -OR- Completion of nursing assistant training program (verification of nursing assistant training program completion required and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS -OR- Completion of a fundamentals of nursing class with a passing grade within the past two years (official transcript required to verify completion of class and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience. - and - Current enrollment in nursing school. - and - Basic computer skills. Physical Requirements: Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
