As the Safety Specialist you will be responsible for executing and improving the San Leandro production facility's Injury Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP). Ensuring compliance with CCR, Title 8, and applicable consensus standards, you will lead the factory to superior safety performance. Your example and leadership will drive our commitment to ZERO incidents and prepare the site for CalVPP certification.

Support effective safety town halls, enable employees in safety training, and building a strong coalition with Safety Champions and safety committees will maintain key foundations. Conduct regular safety inspections which comply with CalOSHA standards and ensure Action Items are completed on-time, in-full to ensure a safe workplace. Improving the facility's safety performance by deploying the Lindt Production Way (LPW) will be a strong focus measured by KPI's and KAI's.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Execution and Improvement of the San Leandro facility's IIPP, including:


    • Safety Inspections and Action Item Management
    • Safety Training management for new workers, annual safety trainings, and advanced content
    • Support for effective Work Planning and Control programs, i.e. Confined Space, Hot Work, Lockout/Tagout, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, JHAs, Management of Change, PSSR etc.
    • Conduct Incident/Accident Investigations, RCAs, 5Whys, Cause Mapping which identify Root Causes and drive effective mitigation
    • Emergency Action Plan, Fire Prevention Plan, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, etc.


  • General EHS Administration and data management


    • Administer EHS reporting and analysis software solutions
    • Ensure accurate recordkeeping for E, H and S requirements, ensure all permits are active and conditions are met
    • Case Management
    • HSE Communication, including newsletter
    • Issue Purchase Requests, Purchase Orders, and invoice verification


  • Continuous Improvement


    • Active and involved member of the Lindt Production Way (LPW) Safety Pillar
    • Manage and drive improvements to reduce risk in the organization
    • Support and lead Safety Champions


  • Other duties as assigned

Specific Knowledge & Skills

  • BA/BS degree in industrial safety, occupational health, environmental science, or industrial hygiene
  • ASP/CSP, CSHO or equivalent certification strong asset
  • Cal/OSHA trainings: OSHA-5119: Cal/OSHA Standards for General Industry, OSHA-511: OSHA Standards for General Industry, OSHA-501: OSHA Trainer Course for General Industry
  • In-Depth knowledge of consensus standards, i.e. NFPA 70E
  • 3+ years' experience in a safety capacity in California, preferably in manufacturing
  • Experience in building and implementing a sustainable safety culture.
  • IT user/administrator skills: SAP, SharePoint, MS Office with emphasis on Excel, Sphera significant asset, CMMS system (i.e. Maximo, CARL, SAP), ISNetworld, Alchemy
  • Willing to acquire additional certifications and training to personally and professional grow with the company.

Salary Range
$71894 - $93473 / year
