How you'll make a difference?

Orthofix is looking for a Clinical Lab Associate (CLA) to join our team at our corporate headquarters in Lewisville, TX. As the Clinical Lab Associate you will be responsible for the successful execution and lab planning for all spine courses, HCP training, and internal stakeholder training. This includes working with Medical Education teammates, Marketing, R&D, Regulatory, and Compliance departments to facilitate hands-on surgical training and execute courses and given projects that are set forth by the Spine management. This position includes the utilization of equipment including audiovisual processes, inventory of lab supplies, (add "surgical) instruments, cadaveric specimens, and demo set shipments to the field and Spine office locations. In this role you will work daily with the Medical Education Events Team to coordinate and exceed lab attendees' overall experience and expectations. This position is responsible for holding the Company, mission and objectives as guiding business principles, remaining in compliance with all safety and HCP protocols, and for driving constant and consistent quality improvement and industry best-practices.

What will be your Duties and Responsibilities?

The following are the essential functions of this position. This position may be responsible for performing additional duties and tasks as needed and assigned.

  • Supports procedures related to facility policies and program regulatory compliance

  • Supports personnel safety training on administrative and clinical levels

  • Maintains facility in a neat and professional manner

  • Assists with logistics for outgoing and incoming samples and/or demo shipments

  • Maintains proper documentation of all incoming and outgoing Spine specimens

  • Assists in execution of content and logistics as requested to support the Med Ed calendared events. This includes, but is not limited to, OR training visits, remote labs, training courses, webinars, mastery programs, and all hands-on cadaver trainings

  • When appropriate, engages in training conversations regarding the Company's network and capabilities

  • Effectively represents the Company brand

  • Handles lab equipment including instruments, AV, instrument processing units and equipment

  • Supports delivery, set up, and cleanup of cadaveric specimens following appropriate guidelines

  • Learns Company medical instrumentation systems to provide superior service

  • Collaborates with various departments and staff to manage ongoing or upcoming projects

  • Assists with documenting lab costs by monitoring supply use and facility vendors

  • Gains expert level knowledge of Medical Education industry

  • Assists with logistical coordination of training courses including travel booking, agenda preparation, and email communication

  • Regular on-site attendance required

What skills and experience will you need?

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related experience.

  • Minimum 1 year experience working in cadaveric training laboratories or clinical experience with orthopedic surgical procedures to include surgical wound closure and surgical site exposure.

  • Knowledge of

  • or able to learn surgical positioning and draping, uses for general surgical instrumentation, instrumentation and equipment specific to spine and orthopedic surgery, surgical procedure protocol, use of lab equipment, washer/sterilizer, computer, communication and video equipment

  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diplomacy, patience, and courtesy with diverse groups; ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships while providing exceptional customer service

  • Must be able to professionally interact with surgeons

  • Maintain precise records, problem solve, and demonstrate initiative to maintain a productive laboratory experience

  • Must be certified or willing to become certified in the utilization of radiographic equipment

  • Must be physically able to operate radiographic imaging equipment

  • Must be able to transfer, position, and be a proper steward of cadaveric specimens

  • Have knowledge of and experience with regulatory (OSHA/Federal/Local) requirements

  • Must be reliable, diligent, meticulous, results oriented, team player that can work in a fast-paced, and often stressful environment

  • Must have a strong ability to establish direction, motivate, and inspire team members

  • Excellent computer skills required; proficient user of MS Suite - including PowerPoint and Excel

  • Ability to work overtime as required, including evenings, weekends as needed

  • Travel 5-10%.
