Position Summary:

Rehabilitation Technician assists clinicians with all aspects of patient care in a fast paced work environment. This includes assisting patient and clinicians with exercise, modality setup/breakdown, scheduling of patients, registration and checking in of patients, printing of home exercise programs, answering phone calls, maintaining clean work environment, washing and folding of linens, taking inventory of clinic supplies and placing orders to restock, and any other tasks asked of them to help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient clinical work atmosphere.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet and escort patients to treatment area in clinic
  • Assist with clinic flow, paperwork, and chart management
  • Schedule patients utilizing Epic
  • Print home exercise programs under direction of treating therapist
  • Access patient medical records for rehabilitation prescription, MRI/Radiology reports, surgical reports, and physician notes when requested by clinician
  • Contact physicians to request new prescription or medical records for patient care
  • Change pillow cases after each patient
  • Wipe down treatment table after each patient
  • Fold laundry
  • Maintains patient confidentiality
  • Assist patients with exercise
  • Assist with short-term care to hospital patients who are recovering from an accident, surgery, trauma, or illness
  • Setup/position steps, balance boards, weights, Bosu Ball, Swiss Ball, etc.
  • Monitor patients during exercise and inform treating therapist of concerns or changes in patient status
  • Set up/break down of modalities per clinicians' settings and parameters including electrical stimulation, ultrasound, hot/cold packs, and H-wave
  • Record temperatures of Hydro collator, splint pan, and freezer on daily log
  • Sanitization of treatment tables and equipment on a daily basis
  • Take inventory of clinic supplies and place order after approved by supervisor
  • Maintain required training and/or education per hospital guidelines.
  • Follow and maintain all lawful safety, health requirements and regulations, and follow protocols for required protective equipment for peers, patients and community.
  • Promptly report safety issues such hazardous conditions, job-related injury or illness, and seek guidance or treatment.
  • Adheres to all professional standards, policies and procedures, federal/state/local requirements and regulatory organizations.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and records.
  • Portrays a professional and positive attitude for peers, patients and community.
  • Other duties as assigned



Education/Licensure or credentials

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
  • Current CPR certification



Position Criteria

  • The applicant must be a fully qualified person from a clinical standpoint.
  • The applicant must be sufficiently flexible to insure that STAT and fluctuating requests are effectively handled.
  • The applicant will have considerable contact with physicians, patients, families, department staff and other hospital personnel. The applicant must be able to handle these effectively.
  • The applicant must follow the dress code established by the hospital.


  • Able to complete on the job training
  • Ability to effectively present information and answer questions from management, customers, patients and the general public.
  • Computer skills adequate to properly access patient records, electronic medical records, and fully utilize Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with customer service, exercise/fitness, medical/anatomy course work preferred (Required and preferred education, certifications and experience based on requirements that are job-related and consistent with business necessity - bullet points)



Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • The ideal candidate must be able to work and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work accurately and effectively in oral and written directions and communication.
  • Enjoys working with people and works cooperatively with other hospital staff.
  • Constant kneeling, stooping, bending, twisting and occasional need to lift patients
  • Medium Lifting, generally lifting not more than 50 lbs. maximum with assistance, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
