$22.46 - $39.51 Job Description Summary:

Assist physician and RNs in the care of patients.

Primary Key Performance Areas:
  • Safely and accurately mix and administer chemotherapeutic agents to patients as ordered by AON physicians, under the direct supervision of the registered professional nurse, and at the discretion of the head nurse. The LPN will adhere to ONS standards and guidelines. Accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste, per OSHA and HRS guidelines.

  • Assist in obtaining lab samples.

  • May perform technical laboratory procedures in a timely manner with accuracy and precision, meeting the standards of all accrediting/regulatory agencies

  • Following laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.

  • Sending outside labs to appropriate facility as dictated by patient's insurance plan. May assist in maintaining test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and checklists according to all regulatory agencies. Responsible to perform Port Access procedures appropriately.

  • Administer shots to patients after complete symptom assessment.

  • Responsible for patient assessment.

  • Documentation: Thorough and accurate documentation in OncoEMR of treatment rendered to patients. Accurately prepare superbill to charge patient for services received in office. Ensure appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for appropriate administration of all medications. Will follow the AON I.D. policy and procedure with every patient encounter. Teaching: When appropriate, educate patients and family about medications, side effects and planned treatment course. Interact with patient and family in a caring and professional manner.

  • Interact with patient and family in a caring, professional manner.

  • Telephone triage: Includes prioritizing incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies and physician offices from emergent to non-urgent. Must respond accordingly in an appropriate time frame.

  • Assist with inventory and re-stocking medical supplies, when called upon. Recommend purchase of new items as needed. Place stock in storage areas in a timely manner.

  • Have working knowledge of dispensing medications via Nucleus. Able to perform cycle Nucleus count. Restock medications within appropriate time frame. Enters all appropriate patient charges into Nucleus.

  • Meetings: Attend annual Safety / OSHA training meetings. Attend all mandatory staff meetings as necessary.

  • Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information at all times.

  • Assist in training new employees to related job duties.

  • Will be expected to work at any AON location to help meet AON business needs.

  • Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patientprivacy, patient's rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law. Adheres to AON and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Recovery Plan.

Required Qualifications:

Appropriate state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse with experience in IV therapy in clinic or hospital is preferred. If required within the state in which they work an approved 30 hour IV certification course would be mandatory or successful completion of 30 hour IV certification course within 90 days of employment. Current CPR and BLS certification is required. Fluency in the English language as well as excellent oral and written communication skills is required. Valid driver's license in the resident state to travel to clinics.
