In this role the Design Associate - Fire Protection will start their growth through which their full career will be hinged on, and which will assist them in their opportunities in the future. The position of Design Associate - Fire Protection is a position of responsibility for assigned project designs, coordination, and associated construction administration.

Key Responsibilities:

    Assist Senior Fire Protection Engineer in ensuring compliance with fire protection systems design and building standards.
  • Support in confirming and reviewing applicable codes (e.g., IBC, NFPA) and establishing system design criteria.
  • Collaborate with building owners and construction teams to validate costs and provide value engineering options.
  • Use design analysis software to develop fire protection system layouts, including piping and equipment selection.
  • Assist with field inspections and ensure project schedules and budgets are met, tracking additional hours when needed.

Education/Experience:

  • Accredited bachelor's degree in engineering (Fire Protection & Safety Engineering preferred).
  • EIT/FE examination preferred, working towards Professional Engineer licensure.
  • Knowledge of design software and ability to develop accurate construction documents.

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
