Overview
The Security Principal Engineer provides technical leadership, guidance and mentorship for a team of network engineers ranging in skill from junior to senior level. The position requires at a minimum 60% project based billable utilization and 40% team leadership.
Responsibilities
Deploys, migrates, and documents post-sales engagement with customers based on ConvergeOne best practices
- Assists in the delivery of support and services to customer's expectations as proposed
- Participates in the design, implementation and administration of Cisco infrastructure and related solutions
- Troubleshoots problems including: security-related issues (firewalls, IPS, understanding of common protocols in security like IPSec, SSL, TLS, HTTP(s), ftp, etc.,) routing and switching, protocol problems, and performance issues across a distributed segmented network infrastructure with multiple security zones
- Creates As Built Visio diagrams and technical write up for deployed solutions
- Assists and mentors team in developing specific network, security and wireless solutions; and detailed implementation plans
- Provides team mentorship, guidance and support; Provide technical guidance to the team based on management direction
- Facilitates and conducts product demonstrations, webinars and presentations to customers
- Serves as a focal point to communicate and resolve integration issues with Sales Engineers
- Assists the sales team with pre-sales and post-sales opportunities
Qualifications
- Must have extensive knowledge of high performance data center solutions, network infrastructure LAN/WAN, network security, and enterprise wireless infrastructures
- Expert knowledge of Cisco Routers (ISR GEN1/2), Switches (including NEXUS and Catalyst Line), Security Appliance is a must (FTD, ASA, ISE, IPS, Prime MARS, NAC)
- Strong knowledge of VPN IPSec/SSL solutions and hands-on deployment experience
- Strong knowledge of AMP for endpoints, Umbrella, Stealthwatch, Firepower and hands-on enterprise deployment experience
- In-depth knowledge of Cisco IOS, NXOS and other technical configurations
- Experience with monitoring, alerting and management tools such as: Ethereal, Solarwinds, Orion Network Monitor, hp OpenView
- Hands on experience with wired/wireless ISE deployments, ASA, Firepower, AMP, Prime Infrastructure, Security posture assessment, and Security Policy generation
- Nexus experience: 9K, 7K, 5K, 2K, 1K
- Extensive troubleshooting experience on Tier4 issues such as Cisco TAC
- Strong customer facing skills with ability to work on latest cisco technologies
- Collaborate with Cisco SE's and internal teams to design solutions and improve them based on field results
- Ability to work under extreme pressure and available on weekends
- Ability to travel 10%-30% of the time
- Preferred Cisco Certified Systems Engineer (CCIE) or demonstrated depth of knowledge and experience
