This position will provide advanced practitioner care to orthopaedic patients under the supervision of a specialty physician. Care includes, but is not limited to, providing diagnostic, therapeutic, procedural and preventative care. This position will examine, diagnose and decide treatments for patients, including interpreting radiology reports and lab results. The PA will take patient histories, write prescriptions, order therapies and may provide surgical assistance, Patient management includes care across the orthopaedic experience, including inpatient service, consultation, pre-procedural care, procedural care and post-procedure follow up in the hospital and outpatient clinics.

Minimum Qualifications
- One (1) year or greater experience as a PA required, dedicated fellowship accepted.
- One (1) year or greater recent clinical experience in Orthopaedic specialty care.
- California Licensed Physicians Assistant (PA)
- National PA board certification in an aligned specialty with the practice area
- DEA within three (3) months of hire
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and ACLS Certifications or UCDH-issued CPR certifications
- CITI Certification prior to any involvement in Clinical Research within three (3) months of hire.
- Graduation with a master's degree or PhD from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by team members, other professionals, and caretakers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Judgment skills to effectively meet the needs of patients.
- Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role.
- Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent PA clinical experience in orthopaedic procedures.
- Recent experience with wound care.
- Experience managing urgent referrals from the community.
- Ability to learn to assist in operations, performing tasks under direct supervision of the attending orthopaedic surgeon.
