POSITION SUMMARY


The Youth Robotics Program Specialist (Specialist) is responsible for guiding, coordinating, and executing initiatives geared towards engaging and empowering young individuals in the field of robotics. The Specialist will focus on fostering youth leadership, skill-building, and empowerment through hands-on robotics education. In collaboration with other members of the Youth Empowerment team, they will design and implement programming that equips Latine/x youth with the necessary skills to excel in robotics, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven fields.

As a member of the Youth Empowerment team, the Specialist will also support with general coordination and oversight of the CLUES Teen Tech Center. The CLUES Teen Tech Center offers young people (ages 14 to 18) the opportunity to work on projects they find meaningful to their lives, using computers and technology. The programs within the Teen Tech Center, including Robotics, provide support and resources for young people to pursue their interests and build upon their talents.

Location: CLUES St. Paul, MN Office

Position Type: Temporary

Schedule: Part-Time, 20 hours per week. Generally, Monday - Friday Office hours. Evenings and weekends may be required.

Estimated Salary/Pay: $20.50/hour - $22.50/hour (depending on experience and qualifications).

This position is temporary and generally anticipated to end on June 30, 2025.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Development, design, and implement robotics and technology-oriented programs, educational workshops, and hands-on learning opportunities in collaboration with department staff and organization partners.
  • Support all aspects of Robotics programming, including but not limited to: leading program efforts and initiatives, assisting youth in building and programming robots, providing hands-on guidance and instruction, curating and delivering robotics, engineering, and technology-related curriculum, etc.
  • Recruit and engage students and their families in the robotics program, fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Effectively communicate with students, families, and program stakeholders to ensure program success and participation.
  • Collect participant data and maintain records to track program participation and outcomes.
  • Collaborate in the recruitment and training of students, volunteer mentors and instructors in the field of technology or STEM, to support programs, workshops, etc. Participate in all partnership and network meetings (i.e BBTTC/Clubhouse Network meetings), sharing ideas and issues, and supporting collaborative projects between a variety of partners and organizations.
  • Support other programs, activities, and initiatives within department and Teen Tech Center.


General Duties

  • Promote the mission, operating values, and agency services of CLUES within the community.
  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, agency policies and other applicable laws, regulations and ethical standards.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS


  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may support with supervision of program mentors, interns, and volunteers.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS


Education, Experience & Key Abilities*

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's degree or certification in technology-related field highly preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 1+ years of experience with your programming or education.
  • Demonstrated Experience coordinating and delivering youth related group lessons, workshops, and activities.
  • Experience with computers and interest in technology as a creative and empowering tool required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English and experience exercising cultural sensitivity and awareness working with Latine/x youth required.
  • Passion for robotics and technology education.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage effectively with youth and their families.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Some travel may be required.


Language Skills

  • Effective communication in English and Spanish, both verbally and in writing, required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written materials, maintain accurate documentation, and respond appropriately to questions and requests.


Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills

  • Proficient working knowledge of email software, the Internet, databases, and common Windows-based programs, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Must be willing to attend training to advance technical skills and maintain appropriate skill levels to perform job duties.

  • Must pass a criminal background check. As a condition of continued employment, staff person may be required to submit to periodic re-verification of these background checks
