The Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) in the UVA School of Education and Human Development seeks applicants for multiple Research Specialist (Wage) positions across Virginia school districts. Specific need in Fairfax and Virginia Beach. The Curiosity in Classrooms Project Research Specialist (Wage) will conduct on-site sessions at partner elementary schools, working directly with students and teachers. Incumbents will collect data using project guidelines and ensure secure transfer of collected data. The position involves establishing rapport with teachers and young participants along with knowledge of study research procedures and protocols, so experience interacting with children and attention to detail are necessary. Extensive training will be provided. Sessions are scheduled according to the needs of the study. Availability during normal elementary school hours (7:45 am - 3:30 pm) is essential. Reliable transportation for traveling between schools (mileage reimbursed) is required. Anticipated Position Compensation: $17-27/hour commensurate with education and experience. Reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed) is required. Preferred: completed coursework at an institute of higher education, at least one year of experience performing direct work with children in either an educational setting or an out-of-school setting such as a summer camp or an after-school program.
